Boba is an ergonomic Soft Structured Backpack style baby carrier that is intended for toddlers up to 20kg or typically up to about 4 years old. While 1st & 2nd Generation Boba Carriers are pure toddler carriers, starting from the Boba 3rd Generation (3G), the Bobas can also be reconfigured to support infants from 3.5kgs onwards.
As most kids would require some form of carrying daily up to at least 3 years old, the Boba carrier makes this possible and allows parents to carry their children comfortably even for extended periods of time. Parents can enjoy better parent child bonding during these times which otherwise would have been back breaking if the child is carried using just hands.
The ergonomic hip belt effectively transfer a child's weight from the shoulders to the hips. This helps to keep the centre of gravity of the child below the lower back of the babywearer. The hip belt that is designed to snugly wrap around hips will then distribute the weight evenly across, therefore allows the babywearer to comfortable carry a child up to 20kgs comfortably in the Boba carrier without straining the shoulders or lower back.
The Boba Baby Carrier has a few extra inches of height to keep your center of gravity closer to your body and support your little one's back. This is particularly crucial when carrying a child in the backcarry position when the child gets taller especially beyond 2 years old. A baby carrier that does not have a panel high enough to cover a child's back adequately should not be use for back carrying the child as the child would be able to "arch their way" out of the carrier while you are on the move!
The innovative thing about the Boba carrier is that there are foot straps attached to the hip belt for the child’s feet to sit in enabling a healthy sitting position for the child. The footstraps not only give little tired legs a rest, but support the legs in a flexed abducted (froglike) position which naturally tilts the pelvis, fills out the hip sockets, and aligns the spine. The Boba foot straps usually comes in handy when a child is about 2 years old.
