Wearing your taller baby in the Patapum Baby Carrier back carry position is one of the most comfortable methods for bringing your baby around. When worn correctly, you can go on without feeling any strain at all and the taller baby can look out without blocking your view. You may however like to consider using the Patapum Toddler Carrier instead if your baby is getting much too tall for the baby carrier. There are essentially 2 ways to achieve the Patapum Baby Carrier back carry position. One is to directly carry the baby in the back carry position. The other is to shift a baby that is originally in the front carry position to the back carry position without the need to put the baby down. The first method is only suitable for babies that can already stand without assistance. For younger babies, it is safer to use the second method to shift the baby from the front to the back.
To carry your baby in the Patapum baby carrier directly in the back carry position, follow these instructions:

Step 1. Put on the hip belt and fasten in front. It should sit snugly on your hips, with the body panel behind you. Squat down and ask baby to hop onto your back and place his hands on your shoulders. Use one hand to support your baby's buttocks.
*Tip: An alternative will be to sit on a bench and ask your baby to hop on instead. This method is especially useful for those with back problems or those who have some problems with bending down.

Step 2. While supporting your baby's buttocks, wear the Patapum Baby Carrier shoulder straps one at a time. |
Step 3. Jiggle a little so that baby is eased into the seat of the Patapum Baby Carrier's body panel.

Step 4. Fasten the chest straps across your chest and adjust shoulder straps by pulling backwards for snugness. Ensure that baby’s buttocks is sitting right in the middle of the Patapum Baby Carrier and there is no excess material under the buttocks.
*Note: Your baby’s arms can be below or above the body panel depending on your baby’s preferences.

Step 3. Put on the first Patapum Baby Carrier shoulder strap (the side where you moved baby under your arm) while bending forward a little so that baby is now leaning towards your back. Support your baby’s back at all times before he is fastened securely.
